Kenton (Ohio) High four-star quarterback Maty Mauk's recruitment continues, with a number of schools…
Mauk Making His Mark
6-fot-2, 190 pound quarterback Maty Mauk has spent his off-season getting stronger, faster and quicker. It's that determination that garnered the junior 8 offers. Here's how Mauk breaks down some of his offers: Notre Dame: "I've been there 4 or 5 times. I like it up there. I like the coaches. I can see myself playing there; they would be a good fit." Missouri: "That's a great fit for what I've been doing in high school. They're not business men, they're regular people. The coaches have been really good to me." Michigan: "I went up there for the Connecticut game. They're going to throw the ball and that's what I like to do." Cincinnati: "They were up here last week. That's where my brother transferred to and he likes it. They run a good offense and are good people." Mauk also holds offers from Vanderbilt, Kent State, Ball State and Ohio University. The quintessential quarterback credits his success to his leadership on the field and his ability to keep plays going with his feet. So when it comes to choosing a school, he'll keep the typical quarterback questions in mind. "From a quarterback standpoint, you don't want to go somewhere with 4 or 5 young quarterbacks. I want to play. I'll compete and beat them out if I have to." Mauk will also take into consideration the coaches. "My relationship with the coaching staff is important. They have to be good mentors to me and get me set for life." The junior wants to choose a school before football season begins with the sooner being the better"I'd love to have it done by June."
