2013 Collins Hearing From Many
Milan Collins stands 6'2"/190 and covers forty yards in 4.5 seconds. He has a strong arm and is mature beyond his years. He has taken his abilities to a few camps this spring and he has impressed several coaches. Now with interest from some big name schools, Collins knows he will have eyes on him this summer and he is ready for the challenge. "I always want to compete with the best," said Collins. "That is why I went to the Elite 11 and Nike Training Camps a few weeks ago. I was able to work with some great coaches and I came away a better player." Collins impressed a few folks that have a solid background working with and playing quarterback. "I got to meet and learn from Coach Dan Hawkins (formerly of Boise State and Colorado), Jordan Steffy (former Maryland QB) and Browning Nagle (former NFL QB). They taught me a lot about the position. They had great drills and I learned how important footwork and mechanics are to the position. I can't just rely on my arm strength. I learned more about reading defenses and making the right decisions. Jordan Steffy said I have a real strong arm and that I could be a top quarterback. He said I have a good head on my shoulders. Coach Hawkins said I need to keep pushing myself. Just because I am the starter at my high school as a sophomore that I need push myself even more now. He said I have all the tools to be a top quarterback. It was great getting their feedback." Collins highlight film has been getting out and he has seen a huge rise in interest from college coaches. "I have been hearing from a lot of schools now. They have been dropping by my school and many schools want to see me at their camp this summer. Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Temple, Purdue, Iowa, have all been to my school. Rutgers is coming soon and Penn State will be coming this week. I have been invited to camps at USC, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Duke, Oregon, North Carolina, Temple, Nebraska, Maryland, TCU and Texas A&M." Collins knows he can't make it everywhere this summer but he sure will get to as many camps as possible. "I am going to a Temple one day camp. I go to Duke on May 22nd and then to UCLA on June 5th. I am also going to Georgia Tech. I know I will be going to other camps but I haven't finalized my schedule yet." Collins is still young but already has good size and great athleticism. Once more coaches see him up close this summer he should have some offers as well. He reports a 3.2 GPA.
