Ray Buchanan Jr. Is Feeling SEC Love
Ray Buchanan Jr. isn't in a hurry to name his top schools. He already knows of a few that will be in that top five list but he wants to make sure he's absolutely positive his choices are the best for him. "I know Mississippi State, Arkansas and Purdue will definitely be in my top five," Buchanan said. Mississippi State recently visited Buchanan and the 2012 prospect's reaction was very positive toward the Bulldogs. "They cam to my practice and I really liked seeing them. Coach Knox is a real nice guy and we talk a whole bunch. I could definitely see myself there . They want me at corner and kick and punt return so that's cool. I think I could use my quickness in that role and I could be a real good asset and give them a boost. I'm really interested." Another SEC school has Buchanan's attention. Arkansas is looking good as well. "They are high on my list. I talked to coach Petrino and actually when coaches could use their one phone call, that was the first call I got. He really wants me to visit so I think I'm going up there the first week I get out of school which is around June 6th." Purdue is the third school Buchanan sees in his soon-to-be-named top five. "Coach Hope at Purdue actually recruited my dad when he played at Louisville. We have a good connection and we stay in contact. My dad doesn't care where I go to school as long as it's the best for me. He actually wants me to make my legacy on my own and somewhere other than Louisville. He would probably like Purdue more than Louisville for me because of coach Hope." Still, that doesn't mean Louisville is out of the race for Buchanan's services. In fact, they are very much in it. "Louisville is in the mix for sure. I visited and Coach Strong actually spent a lot of time with us. It's a cool place and Coach Strong is great." One of Buchanan's most recent offers comes from Illinois. Buchanan thinks they may have a shot at his top five list as well. "They might be in my top five. The distance doesn't really bother me too much. I actually have family up north." As for his offers wish list, Buchanan has a few destinations in mind: Florida State: "I'm not sure if they will offer because I think they still have to evaluate me but I really like them. I've been talking to some coaches over there and they really like me. FSU was my favorite team growing up and they are getting really good again. They had a great recruiting class last year." LSU: "Their DB coach, coach Cooper came to my spring practice. He says he likes my film and he wants to keep in contact because they are close to offering. I'm not sure about going to camp there but I'm thinking an offer could come anyway." Tennessee: "Tennessee really likes my film. They have seen both highlight tapes I have out there and they like both. An offer could be on the way soon if I go to camp this summer."
