Holsey is what some in this business call a ‘baller' on the field. This young man knows how to make plays on the ball. He had 10 interceptions a year ago, so his ball skills are one of his biggest strengths. He has very good awareness in the secondary where he plays safety most of the time. He has shown good range, good closing speed, and the ability to tackle in the open field.
He will not be playing safety on the next level. He will play corner, which is the position he has worked at always when at camps or combines. He has very quick feet and very good feet. He moves very well and he can turn and run well with wide receivers.
At corner from a physical standpoint, he can continue to add weight and strength. He is a physical player, but he weighs right around 175 pounds and he would be better closer to 190 pounds. He is hovering right around the 5-feet 10-inch mark in the height department, so he is right about the average size there.
A couple of things he can work on are his back pedal and his press coverage skills. Him spending most of the time at safety has him moving forward a little more than him moving backward. Him playing deep in the secondary also keeps him from playing a lot close to the receivers and working his hands at the line of scrimmage. He shows he can do that at camps, but in a game it is different.
Overall, Holsey has emerged as one of the top overall corners in the country. He has really improved both his speed and quickness and he plays more physical than his measurements may lead some to think. He is a very smart player, he is a leader, and he knows how to make plays. Each year he has gotten better and he will enter college looking to make an early impact.
