Ohio State continues to search for wide receivers in the state of Florida, and Wednesday they…
Florida WR adds Big 10 offer
Devonte Mathis is starting to become one of the south Florida's most heavily recruited receivers. Already with offers from schools like Florida State, USF, and West Virginia, he added another big one this morning. "Ohio State just offered me," he said. "Great history comes from the Ohio State program. I know they're going through some issues right now but we all know they will bounce back." As a junior in 2010, Mathis had 713 yards passing, 167 rushing, seven passing TDs, and two rushing. He also caught 10 passes for 198 yards at receiver. As a prospect: After sending its previous two quarterbacks to Division 1 schools (Geno Smith and Ryan Williams), Miramar turned to Mathis to play some quarterback in 2010 and he played very well there. However, he'll play WR in college. At 6-1 and 205, he's a good-sized player who plays physical and knows how to get open and make things happen in the passing game. He already has a few BCS offers and expect that number to go up significantly in the coming weeks and months.
