"I spoke with Coach Nutt (at Ole Miss) Sunday night," said Bars
"He told me I had a scholarship offer and that I would fit in within his
program well. LSU came by my practice last Thursday and offered me as well."
A couple more schools came by Nashville, Tenn., to scout the talented left tackle.
"Michigan came by, as well as Vandy. I grew up in Michigan as a kid so that
was pretty cool and Vandy is just around the corner as well. I know a lot about
them. They have a great academic reputation."
How did his relationship start with Ole Miss?
"Coach (Mike) Markuson came by here last spring and watched me and then watched
one of my games this fall. He came back through here a few weeks back and told
me that I was one of his top recruits and that they would be calling soon. I was
glad they did because I really like Ole Miss. I have to find out a little more
about their program so we plan on taking a trip to Ole Miss in June or July. A
lot of people from here go there so they are always talking it up. I know they
have had a little success with Coach Nutt, and he wins a lot so I am looking forward
to seeing what it is all about. My mom and dad as well."
The Tigers in Baton Rouge are a school he looks forward to learning more about
"I like LSU. They came by our school last Thursday. Coach (John Chavis) came
by and spoke to me that night. He talked to my parents for a while and my parents
really liked what he had to say. Hopefully we can get down there during the dead
period and check out their campus as well."
Blake could be a busy man this summer.
"I plan on going down to Ole Miss and LSU and some of the schools I have
not visited yet. I grew up in Michigan for 13 years so I already know what it
is all about up there. I plan on going back to Florida soon. They have been recruiting
me really hard. I might go over to Boston College as well. I just do not know.
I just want to see some places I have not seen before, especially the latest schools
who offered me."
Blake currently holds 15 offers from Arkansas State, Boston College, Florida,
Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, MTSU, Ole Miss, MSU, Tulane, Penn State, Vandy, Virginia,
Wake Forest, and Clemson.
For now, Bars hopes to finish out spring training on a strong note.
"We started practice late because we have a new coach (Marty Euverard). He
use to be the coach at our rival school so it is kind of weird but he's a really
good guy and great coach. I just want to work on my run blocking this spring and
get better all around."
