North Dakota lineman headed to sunny Hawaii, Dustin Adams commits

It's not often that Hawaii goes to North Dakota and recruits but the warm weather must have appealed to Minot Magic City offensive tackle Dustin Adams, as he verbally committed to the Warriors.

Adams (6-5 290) says, "I committed yesterday."

Adams also was offered by North Dakota.

"I went down there a couple days ago and there is really nothing like it," Adams comments. "The moment I met the coaches they took me in and treated me like I was already part of there ohana."

He continues, "I committed early because I knew it was the right thing to do. After I met the coaches and players I knew that is where I wanted to go so I thought why wait if I know that is where I want to be."

Hawaii o-line coach Gordon Shaw is responsible for making the travel to North Dakota to land Adams and it was to Shaw that Adams committed to. "He is the coolest guy I have ever met," he says. "I am not just saying that. He shoots things straight and thats what makes him the best coach. He was stoked (upon commitment). He basically told me he is excited for me to become part of their team. He told me everyone was excited to have me and I know he wasn't just saying that."

And Adams says he will not entertain any other offers. He notes, "As far as recruiting, I am done with recruiting. I will not change my mind and also I will not consider other offers."

Adams plans to major in business and minor in entrepreneurship. He carries a 3.45 GPA and has not yet taken the SAT. Recommended Stories
