Kempt Performs at Bama Camp
Kyle Kempt is not only one of the top 2013 quarterback prospects in Ohio, the Massillon native also might be the busiest signal-caller in America. Kempt has already participated in two Elite-11 quarterback camps, and he has just started a college camp tour that will send him across America. Kempt, 6-foot-5, 205-pounds, recently completed a two-day session at the Alabama summer camp, and he discussed the experience of performing in front of the Crimson Tide staff. "I spent the past two days at the Alabama camp, and it was an impressive experience," Kempt stated. "I was able to spend some time with their coaches, and they knew who I was. They were working with the seniors for the most part, but they spent a lot of time with me, and they said they're interested." "The competition was amazing, and the players were extremely intense," he stated. "The skill level and the speed just blew me away, and I think I did really well. The quarterbacks were all pretty good, so I felt good being able to stack up with the best there. Coach (Jim) McElwain was very impressive and coached me up a lot. I loved it there and I would love to be recruited by Alabama." Alabama won't be the only college Kempt will visit over the next six weeks, as he has trips planned to several programs across the country. "I will be going to Pittsburgh next weekend, then going to Ohio State and Michigan the week after that," he explained. "Then we head out west to see Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington, before heading back home. On the way back we will be stopping at Notre Dame and West Virginia." "West Virginia has been in contact a lot, and I visited there unofficially a week ago," he added. "I loved it there, and the coaches told me I'm an early-offer guy based on film, but they want to see me throw in person." As a sophomore, Kempt took over as the starter during the fourth week of the season, and completed 111 of 205 passing attempts for 1,643 yards. More impressive, was his touchdown to interception ratio of 14-4.
