Michigan State picks up a commitment from Southfield-Lathrup (MI) LB Jamal Lyles…
Lyles Discusses Offers
Recruiting has really picked up for Southfield-Lathrup (Mich.) linebacker Jamal Lyles, an athletic 6'3, 215-lb prospect. Michigan State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Akron and Stanford have all offered recently. The Cardinal have been in touch for awhile, and the offer is contingent on his academic work. "I got that offer back a month and a half ago. They came in and told me they were going to offer me, all I had to do was meet ACT requirements and academic requirements," Lyles said. His performance at this week's Sound Mind Sound Body camp brought about a few more. "Akron had come to my school. Michigan State, they just wanted to see me in the camp setting. I got that offer after the camp. I got Vanderbilt after the camp and Syracuse after the camp." Lyles then wasted no time in visiting Michigan State. "I went up there the second day of Sound Mind, Sound Body. I liked it a lot. It was the fourth time seeing the school. I was talking to the coaches, and they were very excited about offering me. I got to talk to all the coaches individually, because there was not a whole bunch of people with me." Lyles claims no leader saying, "I'll narrow it down more towards the season." He says he does not have any more visits planned, but will be at Toledo with his team for a 7 on 7 on Monday.
