Mike's Take: UConn WR commit

Mike's Take: UConn WR commit

Neally Cunningham committed to UConn recently so lets take a closer look.

What to Like: More and more the college game is becoming a game that favors the bigger wide receivers and at 6-2/185, Cunningham is another big target. He uses his size very well against high school defensive backs and uses it fully to his advantage. He has soft hands and generally catches anything thrown in his direction. The production numbers were there, too, as he caught over 30 passes for almost 20 a catch as a junior last season.

What may concern you: He lacks blazing speed. While he's able to put up quality numbers, he isn't going to have the ability to just run by certain cornerbacks and that will make life a little tougher at the next level. For a 6-2 kid, you'd like to see him become more physical coming off the line of scrimmage.

Bottom Line: Cunningham was recruited like a high two-star prospect. UConn was his only BCS offer while a few Division 1 schools did come through. UConn has landed some quality players from the state of Florida in recent years and it seems like they're getting another one in Cunningham.
