Nwagwu has excellent debut

Embarking on his first year as a starter is not the only new aspect of the game for this receiver.

With the State College Nike Camp spectators mentioning the name Chinedu Nwagwu as one of the top performers, it was a wonder as to why his name did not appear on radars before now. However, with a strong showing, Nwagwu could become a name to remember.

“I am sad I did not do it earlier,” says the 6-foot-3, 191 pounder of his Nike Camp experience. With a 4.5 second time in the 40, Nwagwu was already tired for the vertical jump. “I had a 36.0 vertical jump because my legs were so weak.”

With good numbers such as these, certainly schools must be all over the receiver.

“Pretty much nobody right now. I am open to all the area schools like Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Maryland, but nobody is sending much.”

And why exactly is that?

“This is my first year of playing. I was always a basketball guy, and my coach thought I could play football, so I tried out and wowed them. Now (after the Nike Camp), I am more marketable in football.”
