Southern California was a hotbed for talented players competing in passing
leagues last week. The Big Man on Campus (BMOC) tournament was held at the Home
Depot Center Thursday and Friday, and Saugus' Under the Lights consisted for 32
teams competing on Friday and Saturday.
Scout.com was there to bring you all of the action and has highlights of many of
the top players.

Recruiting: Treggs was the most explosive receiver I saw all weekend. It looked
like he found another gear with the ball in his hands. His final catch was ruled
out of bounds as the last play of the BMOC tournament, and my backup camera was
out of focus.

Recruiting: Committed to Nevada. Tuttle looks the part of a tight end as he
keeps filling out. Outstanding pass catcher.
CB/RB Ishmael Adams, Oaks Christian, 5'10/182

Recruiting: UCLA and Oregon lead. Adams was part of both tournaments and the
lack of highlights is a testament to how little he was challenged by the
opposing quarterback. Strong with his press coverage and quick to turn and run
with a receiver.
WR Darreus Rogers, Carson, 6'2/195

Recruiting: Committed to USC. If Treggs wasn't the best receiver I saw all
weekend, Rogers was. He showed an ability to elevate in traffic and make
acrobatic catches. He has size, strength, and speed. If he plays with
consistency, his ranking of No. 20 in the country at wide receiver may be put in
the rear view mirror as a candidate to be elevated.
CB/WR Dashon Hunt '13, Westlake, 5'8/160

Recruiting: A member of the Class of 2013, Hunt informed linebacker Matthew Rowe
of Long Beach Poly who had been tormenting him from the near sideline, that he
had his man locked down all game. Hunt was right. What he lacks in size, he
makes up for in skill.
LB David Ortiz, Westlake, 6'0/230

Recruiting: Added to the Scout database after a strong showing at Saugus, Ortiz
looks like an ideal candidate at middle linebacker. He has good size, a thick
body, and a nasty disposition.
S David Price '13, Long Beach Poly, 6'1/200

Recruiting: Poly had as much talent on the field as any of the All-Star teams at
BMOC, and Price has the size and skill to be a big-time recruit in the Class of
2013. He closes incredibly fast on the ball and makes nice reads from his safety
position.
WR Gabriel Marks, Venice, 5'11/175

Recruiting: UCLA Leads. Marks only played on Friday, but he quickly made an
impact making big catch after big catch. Listed as a corner on Scout, that may
be his best position, but he can certainly make an impact at wide
receiver.
TE Garrett Parkinson, Royal, 6'6/225

Recruiting: No offers yet, but this is Parkinson's first time at tight end after
playing defensive end as a junior. He was a matchup problem even for a talented
Poly team. He's a huge target with soft hands.
WR Willie McIntyre, Long Beach Poly, 6'0/160

Recruiting: Overshadowed by some of his teammates, McIntyre made a ton of big
catches for Poly, and showed he deserves some looks from colleges as well as
some of his more known teammates.
WR Jordan Payton, Oaks Christian, 6'2/205

Recruiting: Committed to USC. Oak's most consistent weapon, he had three
touchdown catches and a huge pass break up playing safety against Poly. Also a
member of the 1925 All-Stars, Payton and Adams must have pulled a 1991 Deion Sanders helicopter ride (link)
from Saugus on Friday to make it to the Home Depot Center.
WR Josiah Blandin, Long Beach Poly, 6'4/185

Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State. Blandin has been recovering from a
broken collar bone, and he looks to be 100%. He has the catch radius of a
lacrosse player as every ball near him seems to be in reach.
WR Julian Brooks, Sierra Canyon, 6'2/185

Recruiting: Offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Oregon State, and Washington State among others, Brooks was a monster at Saugus before hurting his hand. This
was the first time Scout had seen him in person, and we came away impressed.
Brooks is going to be a fast-riser in the rankings, and is helping to dispel the
early thought that it was a weak wide receiver class in the West.
WR/CB Randall Goforth, Long Beach Poly, 6'0/175

Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State. Goforth is an athlete that is ranked as
a cornerback by Scout, but could play on either side of the ball as he did on
Friday and Saturday. Quick out of his breaks and solid in coverage.
WR/CB Richard Smith, Long Beach Poly, 5'9/161

Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State. Smith was a star on both sides of the
ball for Poly in helping them win the tournament. His size, quickness and top
end speed make him a candidate to play slot receiver or cornerback. Like Goforth,
Smith gives Poly (and Arizona State) a lot of options.
WR Robert Lewis, South East, 5'10/160

Recruiting: Committed to SMU. While he's committed to the Mustangs, Lewis has
left open the possibility that he ends up at another school. A running back in
high school, Lewis has been playing slot receiver and dominating in these
passing leagues. He compares favorably to former Ole Miss star Dexter McCluster
at the same stage of their careers.
LB Salamo Fiso, Long Beach Poly, 6'1/215

Recruiting: Committed to Arizona State. Noticing a pattern here? Arizona State
has four commitments from members of the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, and Fiso
is the only one who is without a doubt headed for the defensive side of the
ball. Normally, it's tough to get a read on a linebacker in 7v7, after all, if
he can't hit and make tackles, he's not usually a factor. That wasn't the case
with Fiso who covered downfield and broke on underneath routes to record several
interceptions.
QB Tyler Stewart, Sierra Canyon, 6'3/205

Recruiting: Offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Washington, and San Jose State.
Stewart could be this year's Michael Eubank. Eubank was a big, talented passer
who slipped through the spring evaluation period without many offers last year
while quarterbacks of lesser ability were collecting scholarships left and
right. Stewart is better than half the quarterbacks I've seen this year who have
already landed multiple BCS scholarships and committed to some of the top teams.
Eubank ended up at Arizona State after rolling up a pile of offers late in the
process, and that will likely happen for Stewart as well.
