Kirkland Bryant, a rising senior defensive back from St. Edward (Lakewood, OH), had been in front of the eyes of plenty of coaches recently, including Eastern Michigan, and he landed an Eagle offer and immediately jumped on the opportunity.
"They saw me at Cincinnati and then they saw me at Sound Mind Sound Body," Bryant reported. "Then I came to their 7 on 7 and the offensive coordinator and other coaches came to those camps, and the defensive coordinator was the only one I had to impress. He saw me and I got a pick six and he offered me from that point."
The offer from the Eagles proved too much to pass up for Bryant, as he committed shortly after receiving the offer.
"Because in the MAC, they went 2-10 overall and I feel I can come and play immediately or at least pretty fast. I can hopefully change that around. It's in the MAC and so I'll get to play a bunch of good teams and showcase my talent as well."
One of the reasons for ending a short recruitment, was Eagle's head man, Ron English.
"Me and Coach English have great conversations. He was impressed a lot and he and my grandmother have been talking and he's been like a role model, talking to me and teaching me things. And I get to go up there now, since I committed early, and I go up there whenever I want and get to know the staff more."
Finally landing an FBS offer and committing has lifted a weight off Bryant's shoulders.
"It feels great, honestly. I didn't know where I was going to stand. It was a dream last year and now that I've got it, I'm happy. Hopefully it all pays off."
Bryant returns to a loaded roster at St. Edward for his senior season and defending championship run, and he looks to set out to further his name and pedigree.
"Honestly I just want to be the best DB. I want to show I'm the best. It doesn't matter how many offers you have, it's about skill. I just want to prove that I'm the best corner in Ohio."
