Massive Texas offensive tackle Simon Goines talks to ShowMeMizzou.com about his recent unofficial…
17 For Goines
The offers continue to pour in for four-star offensive tackle Simon Goines, who is rated as the No. 33 prospect in the country at his position. "Western Kentucky offered me for both football and basketball," said Goines (Keller Central HS). "It was kinda random. I got a call from their basketball coach. He told me they're going to offer in both sports, and I have a chance to start as a freshman in both. He said they'd like to build their teams around me." UTEP also recently joined the lengthy list of suitors who are pursuing Goines. What's his leader board currently look like? "It goes (in order) Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas State, Baylor and Utah," he began. "With Missouri, it's just something where I have a good feeling about them. I loved it when I visited up there for Arkansas; it's a great place. I like the coaches at Kansas State. I really feel comfortable around them and if I work hard, I think I have a chance to start as a freshman. "Baylor is still on my list. They only had two spots at my position and both were filled, but a JUCO prospect isn't coming now, so that leaves with them with an open spot. I want to visit Utah really bad and hope to do before the end of summer." After pondering the query about his favorite schools, Goines decided that five wasn't enough. "I also like Mississippi State, West Virginia and SMU," he stated. "Those three are up there with Utah. I definitely have interest in SMU. I like Coach (Adrian) Klemm. Also, almost all of their staff has NFL experience." Goines doesn't play hoops for his high school team, but he averages "14 or 15 points a game and 12 rebounds" for his AAU squad, which competes in a Dallas tourney this weekend. They'll participate in another tournament in Las Vegas next month. Goines hopes to make a decision on his collegiate destination prior to the start of his senior season.
