If there's one thing Alex Kozan isn't short on, it's college suitors. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound…
Kozan Has Many Options
Alex Kozan has put together an impressive offer list, and the three-star guard is considering several options in his recruitment. With offers from every area of the country, Kozan has great options to consider. Kozan, 6-foot-4, 295-pounds, holds over 20 offers, including Oregon, LSU, Arkansas, Iowa, and others. Most schools are recruiting him as a guard, but some see tackle as a possibility. "Most schools are recruiting me as a guard, but some say I could possibly play tackle," Kozan stated. "A lot of schools think I'm versatile enough to play anywhere on the line, but I would think guard or center is more realistic. I prefer playing tackle, because that's where I play in high school, but I've done well at guard at the camps." With such a great list, Kozan knows he is going to have a tough time narrowing his list to a working number, but he plans to do so in the near future. "I plan on cutting my list in the near future, probably a top-seven by the first week of August," he stressed. "There are a couple schools I'm speaking to, and they are supposed to let me know soon. The only school that will definitely make my list is Iowa, and I think a lot of that program." "Iowa has everything I'm looking for in a school, especially an experienced coaching staff that isn't going anywhere," he added. "Coach (Kirk) Ferentz told me the only way he would leave Iowa would be to retire, and he said that won't be happening any time soon. They put a lot of linemen in the NFL, and they also have a great business school. I've only been there once, but it seems like a good fit for me." "I visited LSU recently and I liked it a lot, even though a lot of their staff wasn't there," he continued. "There are a lot of great things at LSU that I like, especially the way they compete for national championships. They also have a great business school, and again that appeals to me. I plan on visiting Oregon and USC before I cut my list, and I want to check out both places." Although he doesn't hold an offer from Ohio State, the Buckeye program is certainly a favorite of Kozan, and he performed well at their camp recently. "I was at Ohio State's camp a few weeks ago, and I did pretty well," he stated. "I won all my one-on-one's and I beat everyone I went against. I like Ohio State because both my mother and grandmother went to school there, and we still have family and friends in Columbus and Cincinnati. I have family members that attended DeSales High School, and they know (head coach) Luke Fickell." "I grew up rooting for Ohio State and watching the games," he continued. "If they offered me, it would be hard for me to not commit to them, but at the same time I want to see the process through and make the best decision for me. The problems at Ohio State don't really bother me, and there are only two things that I'm looking at in any school. Ohio State still has a great business school, so academically it's fine. On the field, if there are suspensions, bowl losses, and if they don't happen to keep Coach Fickell and they hire someone else, those would be factors I would need to look at." When does Kozan feel he will be able to make his final decision, and announce it publicly? "Once I get my top-seven in August, from there I might take a couple official visits," he explained. "My goal is to get my decision done by early October, so that I can concentrate on our season and trying to win our third straight state championship."
