Dawson Likes Six

One of the premier two-way players in the South, Sheldon Dawson of Memphis, has six schools on his mind.

"My top schools right now are Ole Miss, Cincy, Georgia, Memphis, Tennessee, and Arkansas," Sheldon Dawson said. "Those are just the ones that are sticking out to me. They all bring something unique to the table for me."

The familiarity with Ole Miss is what stands out about the Rebels.

"Ole Miss just feels like home. I have been down there numerous times. I love Ole Miss. It's like a big family. They want me and Jaylen Walton to be their Thunder&Lightning package at tailback. I might be going back down there in a couple of days to let my family look around a little more."

Cincinnati has hit the Bluff City hard this recruiting season. They have already picked up a commitment from one of the top cover corners in Alex Dale out of MUS and are looking for more.

"Cincy is a great school. I have been up there a lot too. I love them as well. Them and Ole Miss have really been consistent with me from the start."

The Tigers from Memphis bring that hometown flavor.

"Memphis is home. They have a promising future with Coach Porter."

The Vols bring the home-state factor.

"Everybody grows up watching UT football from around here but I have never been up there. I really do not know much about Tennessee other than what I seen on TV. I am going over there in a couple of weeks so I can learn more about them though. "

The Georgia Bulldogs are now trying to make a late push.

"They are coming after me hard now. I have not been over there yet either, but they are trying to get me over there to come meet their head coach."

The Razorbacks have always had a presence in the city of Memphis.

"I just like how they have recruited me. They think I can be a big part of their program. I like their school."

Sheldon is Scout.com's #28 rated cornerback. He broke up 16 passes as a junior at Memphis Ridgeway but he also averaged over 20 yards per rush while racking up over 1,000 rushing yards and 14 TD's.

Dawson has the unique ability to be able to come out of his cuts and get back to top speed in a bat of an eye, but he is just as effective on defense. He flies around the ball and will lay the wood on you while possessing elite coverage skills. That is why he is truly one of the top two-way players in not only the City of Memphis but the country.
