TE claims Miami offer, has UM in top 4
Anthony Russell was on a very talented Mainland team in 2010. He finished the season with just eight catches for 90 yards and a touchdown but the athleticism caught a lot of people's attention. "I'm 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds and I can run and catch," Russell said. "Schools say that's a pretty good combination right there." The standout tight end prospect was generating a lot of recruiting buzz after his junior season. Unfortunately, he suffered a knee injury after it. "I tore my ACL and I'm still recovering," he said. "I'll be able to return at the end of this coming season. I'll be ready but I gotta see what the doctors say." Russell, who claims a 3.2 GPA and an 18 ACT score, talked about the recruiting process. "My top four right now are USC, Miami, Louisville, and Florida State," he said. "I have scholarship offers from all four of them." One school has the current lead on the other three. "USC is at the top," he said. "Growing up I sorta always wanted out of Florida for college, to get away. They're always a good program, always have a good team and I know that's a place that could really push me to get better." Russell talked more about his interest in the Hurricanes. "I've talked to Al Golden and Brennan Carroll," he said. "They've told me that after my injury they weren't going to take away my scholarship. Miami is a great program and they put a lot of people into the NFL. I saw the Business School when I went on a visit down there and really liked it. I could see myself there." The standout tight end prospect talked about what he'll be looking for in a school. "Which school will make me better," he said. "Basically I wanna see which school really catches my attention over the next few months."
