A large number of prospects from around the region took part in the first-ever Barton Showcase…
Balducci Holding Steady
Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic defensive tackle Alex Balducci committed to Oregon earlier this summer, the talented lineman has used the time since to get ready for the upcoming year. "I've just been working out and getting ready for the season," said Balducci. Balducci hasn't participated in many camps this summer, but plans on attending the Barton Showcase at the University of Washington later this week. "My coach is working with the defensive line at the camp and so most of our line is headed up there," said Balducci. Since Balducci committed to Oregon, allegations against the program have gotten media attention. The coverage has some opposing fans hoping, and Oregon fans worried, that it could hurt the Ducks in the recruiting process. "I am steady in my commitment, but it raises some concerns," said Balducci. "I am solidly committed but I will be keeping an eye on how things play out. Whatever happens… happens." Balducci is projected by most as a defensive tackle, but still has the athleticism to play on the edge. He is a versatile player that the Ducks plan on using in multiple formations. "The coaches feel like I have the body to play everywhere on the defensive line," said Balducci. "They even talked about playing me at nose guard in passing situations, but primarily I will play defensive tackle." Bladucci has seen the attention from schools die down since his commitment, but not totally go away. "Most of the schools have backed off, maybe a few letters" said Balducci. "Washington is still showing me a lot of interest." Jake Worthen is a West Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com. Follow him on Twitter | Contact him at E-Mail | .
