Harper Fits the Scheme

Harper Fits the Scheme

Jarrod Harper gave an early verbal commitment to the Mountaineers after picking up his offer and is slated to play in the defensive backfield for them when he hits Morgantown. Scout.com brings you some of his junior highlights so WVU fans can see his versatility.

A lot of the talk in recruiting is that West Virginia commitment Jarrod Harper is playing "small school competition" and even that the teams he plays against are inferior. Being familiar with the area, I can see where an outsider may say that looking strictly at the small classification, but when you're going up against teams like Fort Hill, Allegany, Hedgesville and Martinsburg; you're playing perennial powerhouses that show up in the State Championship picture with regularity.

Harper, a 6-foot, 200-pound athlete who helped lead his team to a 9-3 overall record as a junior before they eventually lost 25-0 to Fort Hill High School (four straight final four appearances) in the playoffs played both running back and safety for Mountain Ridge and you can see his highlights below.

Harper is widely considered one of the best two prospects in all of Western Maryland along with 2011 prospect, Garrett Dolly.
