Austin Roberts -- Remember the Name
Austin Roberts has been impressive on the summer 7on7 tour for Plant High lately. After playing on the JV team as a freshman in 2010, Roberts is expected to play a key role this fall for the Panthers. "He's just getting started," said Plant coach Robert Weiner. "He'll be a hundred offer kid by the time he's a senior. He's going to be that good." Roberts, 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, has the bloodlines that people like. "My dad, Alfredo Roberts, played in the NFL," he said. "He's shown me film of different NFL guys, different coverages, and things like that. He's definitely helped me a lot. I might not be more athletic than some of those DB's out there yet but I believe I'm smarter as far as setting up my routes and breaks and things like that." The standout wide receiver prospect talked about some early recruiting interests. "Miami was my favorite team coming up," he said. "My dad played there and they have a lot of history. I believe they're gonna bounce back and turn that thing around. My top five right now would be Miami, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, and USC. It's still very early though." Yes, it's early but Austin Roberts is certainly a name to remember in the 2014 class. He has a chance to be really special one day.
