FSSW 7v7: Coppell DB David Busby
"We are trying to win it all." That was the words of Coppell (TX) defensive back David Busby at the Fox Sports Southwest State 7-on-7 tournament this past weekend in College Station. Busby had a solid couple of days on the field for his team despite the fact that his team did not reach the championship game on Saturday. Last season the Coppell football team did well with a district title and a 13-1 finish. Several players contributed to that and the 5-foot-11, 179-pound Busby was one of them. Not long from now, the Cowboys will be back on the gridiron to give it another go. Along with wanting to lead his team to a title, Busby has secured a couple of scholarship offers along the way as well. "I have offers from North Texas, Utah State and Navy," Busby said. In addition to the schools that have offered, Busby has Boise State, Baylor, Indiana and Oregon actively recruiting him. Both Baylor and North Texas coaches have seen him perform in a camp setting and he said that Kansas State would be the next program he will work out for. But with all of this attention, Busby remains focused on one thing. "Honestly I am listening to what all the coaches have to say and see what they have to offer as a program," Busby said. "But overall, I feel great about the recruiting process." In 2010, Busby had over 100 tackles, seven interceptions and 14 pass break ups.
