Siragusa Speaks About SMU
Nico Siragusa, the 77th-rated offensive tackle prospect in the nation, holds offers from seven schools -- six of which lie on the West Coast. His most recent offer came from SMU and recruiting coordinator/offensive line coach Adrian Klemm. "I first heard from SMU three weeks ago," said Siragusa (6-6, 300). "Coach Klemm is really personable. When I first talked to him, I could tell right away how they've had so much success recruiting in California. "SMU runs that spread offense and we have all these athletes out here. I like SMU and I like what they do with their offensive line. I like their tradition and how they been on the top in the past. They're coming up back, too. What were they? 8-4 last year?" Siragusa, who says distance won't be a factor for him in choosing a college, talked about his skills on the offensive line. "Coach Klemm wants me as either a guard or tackle," he said. "I'm good at run-blocking. Every play, I go hard, no matter whether we're up by 20 points or down by 20. "My pass protection has gotten better, and my coaches continue to work with me on that." Siragusa has offers from SMU, San Jose State, San Diego State, Fresno State, Colorado, UNLV and Washington State. However, he doesn't have a list of favorites yet. "If I did have a top five, SMU would be in it," he said. "I'm definitely going to take an official to SMU. "Next weekend, I'm trying out for the Cal-State Five-Star Game that pits the North stars against the South stars. "I know Eduardo Middleton, the Oceanside lineman who is being recruited by SMU, and I'm going to be talking with him about SMU."
