Updates on Jordan Diamond, Ron Thompson, Aloyis Gray, Marcus Horne, Shawn Heffern, and others.

  • Five-star offensive lineman Jordan Diamond is planning visits to Iowa, Arkansas, Mississippi, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Florida, Arizona and Oregon in the near future.

  • August 5th is the tentative date for the Sound Mind Sound Body preseason Media Day, where prospects like Dennis Norfleet, Ron Thompson and others will announce college decisions. Thompson, a four-star tight end from Southfield High (Mich.) reported to us yesterday at Gridiron Kings that Maryland is the latest to offer and are in consideration. A full story on him will come later today.

  • Indianapolis Pike wide receiver Aloyis Gray has been working as a quarterback all summer and is slated to start there this year. The 6'3, 165-lb prospect has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois and Purdue, and says he now added one from Marshall. He also is looking to add a couple more.

"Well I just got done with the Mississippi State camp and things look pretty promising, so we will see in the next coming weeks and I am waiting on my ACT scores for Northwestern to pull the trigger," he reported.

As for a decision date, Gray simply said, "I'll decide when I get that gut feeling."

  • Milwaukee Bradley Tech running back Marcus Horne has had a good summer, and had a good performance at the recent Michigan State camp.

"It went great," he said. "I ran a 4.54 forty, had a 36-inch vertical, and 6.89 three cone drill. Coach Salem gave me the thumbs up on the offer, but Coach Dantonio said be patient with him."

This week, Horne will be looking to again drum up more interest from a Big Ten school at their camp.

"Northwestern will offer after a nice performance at their camp on Wednesday. That's the conclusion I'm getting from the talks I've been having with the coaches. I like Northwestern a lot."

  • Carmel (Ind.) defensive end Shawn Heffern has not yet received word on his Michigan State offer. He favors Indiana and Purdue currently and says it won't be long before a decision is made.

"I haven't really set a date. I think it will be by the end of the month."

The 6'6, 240-lb Heffern also had a strong summer, earning both of those offers after adding 20-lbs and keeping his athleticism.

  • Michigan Collegiate (Mich.) cornerback Gabe Sanders says, despite previous reports, he does not yet have a Bowling Green offer, but is closing in on some.

  • Sturgis High (Mich.) offensive lineman Drake Miller has a handful of offers and recently added one from Akron. Now, he may end up adding his first BCS offer.

"I just got back from Iowa State," he reported. "Coach Bilel says they are recruiting me with an offer to come soon."

The 6'5, 260-lb Miller has other offers from Bowling Green and Ball State along with interest from Central Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, Wisconsin and more.

  • Bowling Green offered Springboro (Ohio) 2013 offensive lineman Sean Welsh.

  • Buffalo offered Red Lion Christian Academy (Canada) linebacker Trent Corney.

  • Toledo has offered Toledo St. Johns 2013 QB Brogan Roback.
