"I'm on my way back from North Texas," said Royce LaFrance on Saturday morning. "I got there yesterday and camped with them. I liked it and felt comfortable, so I decided to go ahead and commit.
"I really like Coach (Anthony) Weaver, the linebackers coach. The North Texas coaches kept asking me when I was going to commit and telling me they needed me. They said to commit whenever I got ready."
After sleeping on it, LaFrance deemed himself ready.
"We were going back to the campus today to say bye, and I made up my mind to commit," he said. "I talked to the head coach (Dan McCarney). He was excited - everybody was excited.
"I feel like I can play my freshman year at North Texas."
LaFrance and his teammates start fall practice next week. They'll scrimmage St. Augustine and '14 RB Leonard Fournette on August 17th.
Last year, LaFrance led the Cougars with 111 tackles. He also picked off two passes.
