Russell Picks Up Dream Offer
Everett (Wash.) Mariner running back Keivarae Russell has picked up seventeen offers, but few were as big as the offer he added Wednesday afternoon. "USC is big, a real big one," said Russell. "I've been real patient, but I wanted that offer. They don't have Pete Carroll anymore so that is a little step down, but they'll be off sanctions by the time I would be there." Russell said he felt like the Trojans had cooled on him as of late, before surprising him with the offer. "I used to talk to USC for a while but they had been quiet lately, I haven't really been talking to any of the coaches," said Russell. "I have been busy with Gridiron Kings and The Opening so I hadn't talked to any coaches. I called UW and USC just to check in, Coach Orgeron said I had the full offer." "I talked to Coach Kiffin and he said that he was mad his coaches didn't show him film earlier in the year," said Russell. "He hadn't seen my film until today and they made the offer. He was impressed with the film and sees a resemblance of Reggie Bush." Bush is a player that Russell has idolized since he broke onto the national scene as player for USC. However, don't expect that to influence his decision. "The Reggie Bush factor doesn't play too much," said Russell. "He's about to kill it in Miami. I love the way he played and it would be cool to go to the same school, but it won't be a main factor in my decision." Russell had previously trimmed his list to three schools, California, Notre Dame and Washington. The USC offer has opened things back up, giving Russell a top five that now includes the Trojans and Boise State. "I also added Boise State because out of my top five teams they have the best winning percentage," said Russell. "Coach Petersen is not on the hot seat whatsoever and he can be there for a long time. I know they will be in a bowl game for sure." Russell still plans on taking his visits and making a decision near the end of his senior season if all goes according to plan.
