Lester Liston had picked up offers from Ohio, Bowling Green and Western Michigan, but at Cincinnati's camp, he impressed, running in the 4.6s at 6'2, 215-lbs. A Bearcat offer came and he took it, choosing to reveal it yesterday at the Sound Mind, Sound Body Media Day.
"They were really excited. I told them a long time ago. I didn't have the offer. Then when they put it on the table, I went ahead and took it."
Liston says Butch Jones and his staff along with the facilities made the Bearcats an overwhelming choice.
"The coaches. They really grabbed my attention and when I saw the campus, I really liked Cincinnati. They showed me the whole campus and I said wow, you really don't have to leave off campus for anything. What really blew my mind though was the weight room. I'm a weight room junkie and that really got my attention. I like the whole education scenario and they actually want to push me to be a better person and better athlete, better student athlete I should say."
Liston manned the middle for Grand Blanc last year, but says that is about to change in high school and in college.
"They're probably moving me to outside linebacker. I'm actually moving to outside linebacker this season and then when I go to college I'll be on the outside."
With the decision out of the way, Liston says he can now focus on taking Grand Blanc even deeper into the playoffs.
"We're all the way to the top. This year, we have new leaders, new people, new coaches, new people. I'm looking forward to leading my team as far as we can and not letting anybody take us down no matter what."
