Alabama: In-state decisions

The state of Alabama has 45 commitments to 16 different schools. Andrew Bone takes a look at where prospects in the class of 2012 have decided to play college football.

Southern Miss

The Golden Eagles lead the way with seven commitments which include C.J. Perry, outside linebacker from Bessemer Academy, Dalvin Craft, defensive tackle from Atmore-Escambia County, DeAnte Lawrence, running back from Prattville, Devin Gordon, offensive tackle from Gadsden City, Jonathan Wallace, three-star quarterback from Central of Phenix City, Kalan Reed, three-star cornerback from Briarwood Christian, and Derrick Moncrief, safety from Prattville.


The Tide has six on the commitment list which includes Darren Lake, three-star defensive tackle from York-Sumter Central, Ryan Anderson, three-star defensive end from Daphne, Tyler Hayes, four-star outside linebacker from Thomasville, Reggie Ragland, five-star from Madison-Bob Jones, Justin Thomas, four-star wide receiver from Prattville, and Caleb Gulledge, three-star defensive end from Prattville.


The Blazers have reeled in six commitments which include Larry Pettaway, outside linebacker from Prichard-Blount, Kelton Brackett, three-star cornerback from Prichard-Blount, Jake Ganus, wide receiver from Chelsea, Ben Craft, quarterback from Briarwood Christian, Steve Pickren, tight end from Pell City, and Nyck Young, wide receiver from Homewood.

South Alabama

The Jags have five commitments with two coming from Prattville which includes defensive tackle Terrance Jones, and outside linebacker Jay Minor. The list also includes Daniel Aust, offensive guard from Hoover, Paul Kyles, three-star tight end from from Prichard-Vigor, and Steven Foster, three-star offensive guard from Demopolis.


The Tigers have added four commitments which include Tyler Nero, four-star defensive tackle from Atmore-Escambia County, T.J. Yeldon, four-star running back from Daphne, Darrion Hutcherson, four-star tight end from Dadeville, and Cassanova McKinzy, four-star middle linebacker from Woodlawn.

Florida State

The Seminoles have secured four commitments which include Jameis Winston, five-star quarterback from Hueytown, Justin Shanks, four-star defensive tackle from Prattville, Alphonse Taylor, four-star offensive tackle from Mobile-Davidson, and Chris Casher, four-star defensive end who has transferred from Faith Academy to Mobile-Davidson.

Georgia State

The Panthers have three commitments with two coming from Dothan in offensive guard Aaron Thomas, and outside linebacker Joseph Peterson. The other in-state commitment is Deion Anderson who is a safety from Auburn.

Arkansas State

The Red Wolves have added two commitments which include Jalen Whitlow, quarterback from Prattville and Antonio Justice, outside linebacker from Montgomery-St. Jude.

Georgia Tech

The Yellow Jackets have added one commitment from Tyler Stargel who is a three-star middle linebacker from Gulf Shores.


The Cougars have added one commitment from Austin Grammer who is a quarterback from Tuscaloosa-American Christian.


The Cardinals have added one commitment for special teams in Josh Appleby who is a three-star kicker from Athens-East Limestone.

Middle Tennessee

The Blue Raiders picked up Tyler Lassiter who is an offensive tackle from Hazel Green.


The Boilermakers have added one commitment in Jonathan Curry, three-star tight end from Central of Phenix City.


The Owls added a commitment from Justin Carter who is a safety from Hoover-Spain Park.


The Green Wave has one commitment from Fudge Van Hooser who is a wide receiver from Montgomery-Trinity Presbyterian.

Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons added one commitment in Laronji Vason who is a three-star cornerback from Prattville.
