Josh Smith is currently rehabbing a knee injury, one that cause some schools to stop recruiting him, but the Ball State Cardinals stood by and earned his commitment.
"I like how it's an in-state school," the three-star center said. "That's one thing I like about it. With the injury happening, Illinois pulled off, Northwestern had commits already, Michigan State had commits, and I wanted to oo somewhere I'm wanted and make a difference at the school, not only with my ability to play, but ability in leadership."
Smith wants to pursue a career in physical therapy and the Cardinals could offer him that as well.
"It's more about the education and opportunity I had in the career world. I talked to their coaches and I feel like if I push myself and with a degree from Ball State, I can get into a good post graduate school for Physical Therapy."
In the end, Smith will be back week seven and won't have recruiting to worry about, because he's already found a great situation.
"They have something new brewing here, and I get a quality education for free."
