A prospect that caught my attention last week was running back Tyren Jones
. I watched Norcross play Walton in a scrimmage and Jones showed me he is worth keeping an eye on.
Prospect: Tyren Jones
High School: Walton
Location: Marietta, Ga.
Position: Running Back
One to Watch Because: Jones is going to be the featured back in Walton's offense this season after transferring over from Lassiter in the off-season. He is a durable back with a good understanding of that position. He knows how to run with patience, he knows how to prepare for tackles, and he can not only run the ball well, but he can catch the ball also.
He is not a burner, but he knows how to hit the hole, he has good balance, and he has a low center of gravity, which makes him tough to tackle. He is a one-cut runner and he is a kid that can move laterally well.
Jones can still work on his overall quickness and his initial burst, but he is a running back I expect to start appearing on some radars as we go through this season.
Recruiting Notes: Jones said he is not being recruited by anyone yet. He plays on a team with two Kentucky commitments, a 2013 quarterback with a Louisville offer, a 2012 defensive end with a Cincinnati offer, and other prospects, so eyes will see him this fall. His early top five are Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas.
Tyren Jones is a 2013 running back that is not drawing any attention yet in recruiting, but that is expected to change.
One to Watch: Tyren Jones
This 2013 RB out of Georgia is on track to have a big season...
