“I have visited Auburn seven times and I have visited Alabama five or six times, so I know all I need to know about each school,” Geno Smith told Scout. “At Auburn, I really like the coaching staff and the family atmosphere created there. At Alabama, I like their tradition and Nick Saban’s reputation with defensive backs.”
Smith knows he has two top programs as his finalists and each school has been recruiting him hard for quite a while.
Auburn was the first school to offer Smith back in the spring of 2010 and Alabama offered the four-star corner in January of 2011.
The recruiting process for some is described as stressful, but the Atlanta, Ga. native described it with another word.
“I would say it has been more entertaining than anything else,” Smith said with a laugh. “It was a little stressful at times, but overall, it was fun. Seeing how the fans were, talking to the media, going on all the visits, and receiving the treatment I received was great. It was an entertaining process for me.”
Although, the number seven rated corner in the country called the process ‘entertaining’, he is still ready to put it behind him.
“I have been ready to commit for a little bit now. I am ready to get it done, commit to a school, and to start recruiting other players. It has been a great experience, but I am looking forward to Wednesday.”
Scout will be at St. Pius X on Wednesday afternoon covering Smith’s process conference. He is set to announce his decision at 3:15pm EST.
