Mountain View HS LB Joel Skotte (Bend, OR) is one of the top targets on the Boise State recruiting…
Skotte Talks Top Three
Bend (Ore.) Mountain View linebacker Joel Skotte is ready for his senior year to start and plans on focusing on just that for now. "Things are going good, I am taking a break from recruiting for the season," said Skotte. "We have practice all week and next week and then games." Skotte plans on making his decision around signing day. Until then, he will keep tabs on the three programs at the top of his list. "Yeah, I am taking a break and will decide after the season," said Skotte. "The three programs that I will be looking at are Boise State, Oregon State and Air Force. Skotte chose the programs over offers from Idaho and Washington State, as well as a pair of schools that just jumped into the mix. "San Diego State and Portland State have also offered recently," said Skotte. The 6'2" 225lbs prospect talked about the qualities that stand out for each of the three teams he is interested in. "Boise State… I like the football program and how often they win," said Skotte. "I like Coach Petersen and Coach Gregory. They win almost every game." "Oregon State is close to home. My brother and sister live in Corvallis," said Skotte. "I've always dreamed of going to Oregon State, Mike Riley is an awesome guy and I know he's not going anywhere." "Air Force is a good career move," said Skotte. "It's up in the air on jobs right now and with the academy you have a guaranteed job. It would be awesome to be a pilot so I have to think about that." While Skotte doesn't have an official date for when he will make his decision, he does know what he will be looking for. "I think the biggest thing I look at is the coaching staff. I will spend four years playing for those guys so I had better like them," said Skotte. "I think the academics are important. Air Force is the best academically, but I have to decide about military service. Close to home is also important so everyone can make it to my games. It would be cool to live in the same town as my brother and sister." Skotte will not completely abandon the recruiting process during the season, he is still looking at taking a pair of visits during the year. "I will take the Air Force official after the year, in January. That is when they do their visits," said Skotte. "With BSU it depends, it's when I can make it work on a bye week or something and they have a home game. Oregon State is easy because I can just drive there. I will probably take that visit some weekend during the season." Jake Worthen is a West Recruiting Analyst for Scout.com. Follow him on Twitter | Contact him at E-Mail | .
