Daniel Taylor is coming off an impressive outing in his team's scrimmage over the weekend, and…
Quick Start For Taylor
Daniel Taylor burst out of the gates in tonight's preseason scrimmage versus West Saint John. "I scored five touchdowns," he said. "I had two receiving and three rushing. The first touchdown was on a wheel route, the second came on a 20-yard run where I broke a tackle, the third was a five-yard run, the fourth was a 90-yarder, and on the last one I broke an option run for 60 yards. Ronnie Feist (West Saint John DE and LSU commit) didn't play. He had a back injury. "Our defense looked real good. They didn't cross the 50-yard line on us all night. We're not satisfied, though. We play (Class 5A) Destrehan in the jamboree next week, then we have Dutchtown (and five-star safety Landon Collins) in the opener. The Dutchtown game will be on statewide TV, but we're trying not to get overly excited about that. We want to stay focused and not mess up. The key against Dutchtown is for us not to turn the ball over - and for our offense to stay on the field longer. Last year, they controlled the clock for 2/3's of the game with (RB) Effrem Reed." A few weeks ago, Taylor came close to ending his recruitment, but he decided to wait it out and see what happens on a couple of different fronts. "I'm taking an official visit to Pittsburgh with (teammate, three-star CB and Ole Miss commit) Jordan Batiste," said Taylor. "I'm not sure of the date yet. A lot of schools are saying they'll start recruiting me in September when they can start calling. Some schools are waiting on me to take my ACT again, and I'm doing that on September 10th. Ole Miss is the main school I'm waiting on (that hasn't offered). Southern Miss (which has offered) is the other school I'm seriously considering." Last year, Lutcher reached the second round of the Class 4A playoffs. The Bulldogs are expected to contend for the state title this fall.
