FOX Sports Ohio: Avon vs. Avon Lake

Thursday evening FOX Sports Ohio kicks off the high school season by televising the battle between Avon High School and Avon Lake. There are several interesting individual prospects for both squads, in what figures to be an exciting contest between two of Ohio's top teams.

This Thursday will mark the opening telecast for FOX Sports Ohio's coverage of the high school football season. The initial broadcast will feature Avon High School taking Avon Lake, in a battle between two of the top programs in Ohio.

Both teams feature prospects that will be receiving recruiting attention this season, including a few who currently hold offers.

AVON LAKE:

Brett Bass: An exciting senior safety prospect at 5-foot-11, 185-pounds, Bass has run an 11.1 hundred meter dash time.

T.K. Burk: The 6-foot-6, 300-pound, senior offensive lineman holds an offer from Notre Dame College of Ohio. Helps anchor a strong offensive line for the Shoremen.

John Lancione: An interesting junior offensive line prospect at 6-foot-3, 255-pounds, with a chance to be an excellent player.

Dontez Smith: The 5-foot-8, 185-pound, all-around senior athlete can do it all for Avon Lake. He was an All-Conference performer a year ago, and features 4.55 forty-yard dash speed.

Mac Wightman: Another top offensive line performer, the 6-foot-4, 295-pound, senior guard also holds an offer from Youngstown State.

AVON HIGH SCHOOL:

Ross Douglas: The highest profile prospect on the field, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound, junior will line up at tailback and defensive back. Douglas already holds offers from Tennessee, Connecticut and Minnesota.

Tyler Lance: The multi-talented 6-foot-2, 220-pound, senior tight end/linebacker is one to keep- an eye on for Avon.

Justin O'Rourke: The 5-foot-11, 175-pound, senior quarterback is a spark plug for Avon. Last season, O'Rourke completed over 50% of his passes, throwing for 959 yards.

Ralph Smith: Another exciting junior, Smith is a 5-foot-9, 170-pound, athlete that will line up at wide receiver and defensive back.
