Scouting: Redford Thurston vs Edsel Ford
Recap Thurston jumped out quickly, and despite some big plays by Edsel Ford, their defense tightened and forced turnovers on their way to a 40-6 victory. Redford Thurston Eric Wilson / Sr. / WR-OLB (6-2, 205) Wilson scored the first three times he touched the ball and was a man amongst boys out there. He caught three short passes and easily shrugged off every would-be tackler that came his way. He had four receptions, three for touchdowns. On defense, he was effective on the blitz off the edge and made a couple big plays including a sack and forced fumble. He made the competition look worse than it was last night. He's the real deal and I firmly believe he's a top 20 player in the state. Grant Wilson / Sr. / RB (6-0, 200) Eric's cousin is a solidly built, tough back who breaks arm tackles and runs hard. Good, not blazing speed. He is tough on defense too and I could see him being a strong safety or WILL backer in college. Good player. Devin Ryles / Sr. / QB-DT (6-0, 255) He's their triggerman, and a tough kid, athletic kid for how big he is, but he won't be a quarterback in college. I think he could be a great fullback though, or potentially a defensive lineman. Kevin Williams / Jr. / RB (5-9, 165) Tough runner with good speed. He's a track kid, but he ran hard through tackles and isn't just a track guy. One to watch. Damon Fuller / Soph. / DT (5-11, 245) Good, young, disruptive player. Hopefully he grows over the next couple years, because he was a very good player who made a lot of plays. OTHERS Senior receiver-corner Marquis Johnson could be a GLIAC type prospect. Junior receiver Shakeer Williams is a speedy, shifty kid that could play defensive back as well. Michael Hall is a 6'4, 250-lb kid that plays both ways and is a senior that may play some level of college ball as well. Dearborn Edsel Ford Kyle Tiller / Sr. / OT-DE (6-4, 275) A good prospect. Was advertised to me more as a defensive prospect, but I think he'll be an offensive lineman in college. He plays hard and drove his man back consistently. His technique is raw, and he was an OK bender, but it was his intensity and attitude that allowed him to be effective. I think he's a potential D1 guy. Leonte Degraffenreid / Jr. / WR (6-3, 225) Good prospect who came out of nowhere. Big kid who went up and won about four jump balls, showing good athleticism and timing. Did not show me much after the catch yet, but a guy who can make plays and has great size. Will be one we monitor throughout this year.
