Cincinnati Moeler is annually one of Ohio's top programs and they were impressive Saturday in defeating Pickerington Central 14-0 in Cincinnati at the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown.
Junior offensive tackle Alex Gall played well in the win, and the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder is one of the top offensive line prospects in Ohio for the class of 2013.
"I thought our team played well enough to win, but we will need to play a lot better going forward," Gall stated. "We came out slow at first, but we made a few adjustments to get the running game going, and came out with the win."
"Personally, I thought I started a little slow, trying to get the butterflies out," he added. "As the game wore on I thought I played a lot better, and I tried to listen to what our coaches were saying. I started firing off the ball better."
Although Gall started and impressed as a sophomore last season, he believes he is a better player as a junior.
"I've worked hard on my technique and we have great coaches here at Moeller," he explained. "My footwork is a lot better and I'm a lot stronger. I think I'm equally as good at pass blocking and run blocking, and I think I need more cardio work to be in even better shape."
As one of the top line prospects in Ohio for the class of 2013, Gall is definitely interested in playing college football some day.
"I went to the Ohio State camp in the summer and I learned a lot from them," he stressed. "It was a good camp, I got the MVP award, and they've stayed in touch. Ohio State faxed me an invitation to this week's game with Akron. We have a game that night so I can't go, but I'm definitely going to make it at some point."
"I'm also hearing from schools like Virginia, Michigan State, Michigan, Kentucky, and a few others," he continued. "I also like Notre Dame, and I would definitely consider myself wide open from a recruiting standpoint. Nobody has offered yet, so I'm still looking for my first offer."
