Jelks Needs More Time
Andrew Jelks Ht: 6-6 Wt: 260 40: 5.0 Position:OT Year: Class of 2012 High School: Henry County HS (Paris, TN) You are a pretty highly-prized recruit in your state. How does that make you feel? "I feel privileged to have the opportunity to go out and play football every day. God gave me this talent; I am just trying to use it the best I can. It's a really great feeling to know that people think I am talented." "In an interview with Fox Sports/Scout.com you said you were 80 percent certain you would make your decision in August. Do you still plan to do that?" "I want to take some more time, and take some trips. I am going to look at Alabama, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Tennessee. I am going to Knoxville September 10th, that is the only planned one, but I'm sure I will be visiting the others very soon." Who are your favorites? "My top five would be Mississippi State, Tennessee, Alabama, Vanderbilt and most recently, LSU. They haven't offered yet, but they have been really pursuing me, as of late." What will help you make your decision? "I want to make sure I get a great education no matter where I go, because football might not last me another day in my life. That is number one to me, my foremost priority when choosing a college. Second would be my relationship with the coaches and other players." You grew up a Volunteer fan, will that sway your decision? "I did grow up a Volunteer fan, but that is not going to sway me. I can't just go because it's my favorite college football team growing up. It's a big decision, I want to make sure it's the right one." Could you hypothetically commit after taking one visit? "I'm the type of guy that wants to go to all the schools and weight all of my options before I make a decision. I also want to get all of my questions answered; and my family will be a big part, as well, I don't want them to be too far away, but none of those schools are." You mentioned questions. What questions will you ask your potential coaches? "First off, how would you use me, would you redshirt me? I would also want to look at their academic support." What are you working on to improve this season? "I want to gain a few pounds before the end of the season, I am trying to put a little weight on."
