Beelen Ready For Breakout Season
It's been quite a journey for Zeeland East HS standout DT T.J. Beelen. "I started playing football when I was in third grade at age eight," Beelen said. But it wasn't until his seventh grade year that he really started to love the game. "I liked the game before that," Beelen said. "But when I got hurt I felt like I could not live with out football, and I had to go to the ER." He continued, "All I was thinking was please let it not be bad so I can play in the game tomorrow." Fast forward to today, and the 6-foot-2, 270 prospect is coming off a big summer of recruiting – and ready to grab his first offer. "I went to Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State twice, Wisconsin, and Western Michigan for camps," Beelen said. "I think I did pretty well, and if I get the chance to play for one of those schools I think I can hang with them." The Zeeland, Mich., prospect has talked to coaches from Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Western Michigan – and has a message to send to them this season. "I want to show that I go hard every play, and I can use my hands." Beelen said. "Also that I am a hard worker and will get the job done."
