Texas A&M Commitment for Top Cornerback
Profile: Colin Blake Blake had offers from Arizona, Baylor, Cal, Michigan State, Missouri, Oklahoma, TCU and Texas Tech. But when it finally came down to making the decision, Blake chose the school that he calls a family—Texas A&M. The three-star recruit said it was the Aggies' coaching staff that made all the difference. "When I finally sealed the deal and committed to Texas A&M, Coach (Mike) Sherman was really happy," Blake said. "My position coach (Charles McMillian) was getting emotional when I talked to him after he found out about my commitment. I wanted to go somewhere where I was really wanted and I found that at Texas A&M." Blake also said he felt Texas A&M was a good fit for him because of the Aggies' traditions and the opportunities he feels he will have while playing at College Station. "I really like the Game Day atmosphere at Kyle Field, the home of the 12th Man," Blake said. "They are so welcoming. It's really close to home so my family will be able to come to the games. There are also three seniors at cornerback right now so I'll have a chance to play when I get there." Recently, Texas A&M announced their intentions to leave the Big 12 and is seeking a new conference, with plans to leave by July 2012. The Aggies have also made it clear that the conference they prefer to join is the SEC. "Texas A&M joining the SEC will make it more exciting," Blake said. "I like competition, especially playing against the best of the best. Playing in the SEC would also be a good way for me to prepare for a possible career in the NFL."
