California and Utah high school teams hooked up twice on Saturday. Here is a look at the top prospects from Bingham (UT) and Orange Lutheran (CA).

There were two games on Saturday that matched Utah vs. California high school teams. The early game featured Alta (UT) blowing out Crenshaw (CA) (Scouting Link). The second game featured Orange Lutheran (CA) defending the Golden State's honor and putting a thorough beating on Bingham (UT).

No matter the outcome, the game featured some very good college prospects, and here is a look at several of them.

#83 TE Christo Kourtzidis (6'4/240) Orange Lutheran
Committed to Florida State

The highest rated prospect in the game, Kourtzidis is a member of the Scout 300 and ranked No. 9 nationally at his position. He never got on track in the passing game dropping a couple of early balls before hauling in a couple during the game. He was solid in his blocking assignments and strikes an imposing figure at 6'4/240.

#76 LG John Lopez (6'5/315) Orange Lutheran
Class of 2013

Lopez played left guard in this game and showed good feet and was solid in the running game.

#8 CB Willie Fletcher (6'2/185) Orange Lutheran
Watch Video

Fletcher is tall and lean at his cornerback position, but he showed the willingness to make a tough hit as well as run downfield in coverage with the receivers. Great size and range.

#80 TE/LB Miles Willis (6'0/195) Orange Lutheran
Class of 2013

While Kourtzidis came in the with big ranking, it was Willis who stole the show. Willis had a circus catch for a touchdown as well as a sack that included a forced fumble. His big plays helped make what seemed like a close game become a rout.

#32 DE Deion Williams (6'0/225) Orange Lutheran
Committed to Duke
Watch Video

Williams put his hand on the ground and played right defensive end against Bingham, and he took to it like a duck to water. Williams showed good range extending plays to the sideline and gave Bingham fits with bursts into the backfield.

#1 WR Kalan Cantwell (6'2/200) Bingham
Class of 2013
Watch Video

Cantwell has good size and leaping ability, and he has outstanding hands. He had the second best catch (the first being Willis' TD grab) on the day to extend a drive on a 4th down play.

#24 RB Daniel Palepoi (5'11/225) Bingham
Watch Video

A thick running back with thighs the size of tree trunks, Palepoi is Bingham's workhorse. He is tough to wrap up because of his size and strength. Better than average hands out of the backfield.

#17 LB/FB Jared Afalava (6'3/220) Bingham
Watch Video
The best college prospect on the field in my view, and to me, it wasn't that close. Afalava is a long, lean linebacker who still has 30 pounds on his frame. He can chase down running backs from the backside, and even though he has an outside linebacker build, he plays with a middle linebacker mentality. He's big, tough, fast, strong, and instinctive. What's not to like?

#71 DT Lowell Lotulelei (6'2/280) Bingham
Class of 2013

Orange Lutheran's quarterback Conner Sullivan is a magician running the option, and the option attack rendered the interior line of Bingham including Lotulelei ineffective. But his size at 6'2/280 is obvious and he showed good agility while chasing plays from sideline to sideline in vain.

#91 LB/DE Durrant Miles (6'4/210) Bingham
Class of 2013

While Orange Lutheran spent much of the game running around Lotulelei, it was Miles who was victimized by Sullivan's good decisions making the options on several occasions. Miles has a great frame and good size and speed, and he'll be happy not to face Sullivan and OLu again, but college recruiting fans will likely hear Mr. Miles name again before all is said and done.
