Vernon Harris was in on a number of plays on ESPN when St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Prattville on August 27.
He is hoping that type of exposure will lead to him becoming a top recruit in 2012.
"I was able to sit back and watch one of the top safeties in the country play last year. Marcus Roberson started ahead of me and I was able to learn from him. Now, it is my turn to play and I am ready to make the most of it," said Vernon Harris.
Harris is a 6-foot-2, 180 pound safety and he is starting to draw some attention. No offers yet, but they could be on their way.
"Connecticut, Boston College, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Wake Forest have started to show interest. Some schools have been calling my coach asking about me, so I think some good things will happen."
All he wants is an opportunity.
"I am open to going to play for anyone. I do not have any favorite schools or anything, I just want to earn some scholarship offers."
Harris has shown very good range early in the season and solid coverage skills for a safety. He has good size, he has a good attitude, and he is one that could emerge this fall.
