Curiel Calls Soon After Offer
"I committed to Air Force about an hour ago." That was the message Scout.com received at around 9 p.m. Monday night from Manvel (TX) offensive lineman Simon Curiel. Interesting fact for the 6-foot-1, 275-pound lineman from Rosharon, TX, is that he was not only surprised that he was being recruited, but that he has the chance to play at football's highest collegiate level. "It's incredible. I never thought that any college would want a nerdy little center from a small rural town from Texas," Curiel said. Well, it seems as though the Falcons coaches did and Curiel accepted. Other than Air Force, Curiel was being courted by Navy, a team that made some inquiries during the off season. According to a member of the Manvel coaching staff, Curiel was ready to commit this weekend sometime, but the coaches were in a battle with TCU at the time. No worries. Curiel got them today and from the sounds of things, everything is all good.
