"We had two of our strongest opponents in the first two games," said Brown. "I had five tackles and a pass break up against Loreauville, and I caught a two-point conversion. (Junior QB) Josh Singleton scored the game-winning touchdown against Loreauville, but he had to temporarily leave the game after getting shaken up on the play. The backup quarterback came in for the two-point conversion. He rolled out and threw it to me when the outside linebacker left me uncovered.
"On the year, I probably have eight catches for 85 yards. I'm kicking for the first time ever and I'm still working on it. I had a 20-yarder last week in the White Castle game, but when I first started off in practice I was missing most of the time.
"I had a lot of tackles against White Castle. We were trying to kick away from (White Castle star RB) Tyre Bracken, but one of my kicks went straight to him and he broke it up the middle. I came from behind and caught him at our 30-yard line, and we went on to hold them from scoring. People were saying that was a big play when I tackled him."
Brown is getting mail from Miami, Stanford, Mississippi State, UL (Lafayette), ULM and Florida, among others. He lists an early group of frontrunners as follows: Oregon, LSU, Mississippi State and Clemson.
This week, the Eagles clash with 3A Berwick (0-2). In the preseason jamboree, Central Catholic routed Berwick by more than 40 points.
