Scout's Take: Apollo High
Thursday Sept. 15th, 2011Opponent- Peoria (Az.) Centennial. Lost 40-28.Notes- Cox Channel 7 Thursday game of the week.Breaking Down Apollo2012 Class College Prospects#5 QB Jon Brown - 6-0 210- Went 14 of 20 for 269 yards and 1 score. Also rushed for 74 yards and 2 TDs. Brown is a dual threat QB but don't think he is just an athlete playing QB...the kid can sling it! Very strong arm, throws a nice tight spiral, has a quick release, can throw on the run, the biggest concern is Brown's height. That is it from a physical standpoint. If he were 6-2 he would have 20 offers. When he does run the ball he is thick enough to take a pounding, has solid speed and shows toughness. Would fit perfectly in a zone read offense. Could potentially play RB or S but I truly believe that Brown is a college QB, might be one of the most underrated on the West Coast. New Mexico State is his only offer thus far.#65 OL Daniel Cruz - 6-1 280- Center that is thick in the trunk and plays hard. Not a big time prospect but can play NAIA or JC ball. Underclassmen#7 junior WR Abraham Mendivil - 6-1 200- Had 6 catches for 99 yards and a score in the game. Good size which makes him an intriguing prospect. Also plays DE. I don't think he is a D1 prospect but can play college ball at some level.#59 sophomore OL Jon Sekona - 6-3 290- Developing prospect that could emerge as a D1 candidate in a few years with hard work. Still a puppy but has size, has some nasty and good feet for a big man. Still needs to develop his technique in both the run and the pass game but I like what I saw early from this young player.
