LB Arthur Brown, Kansas State
Recruiting Tale of the Tape
Class: 2008
School: Wichita East H.S. (Kan.)
National Ranking: 5
State Ranking: 1
Height: 6’1
Weight: 225
Originally signed with Miami (FL)
Brown was rated as the #1 linebacker in the country coming
out of high school when he signed with the Miami Hurricanes. His athleticism
kept him from a red-shirt year, but he was only able to secure four tackles the
entire season. The next year he was moved from OLB to ILB and would eventually
transfer to Kansas State. So far in two games at KSU Brown has emerged as the
team’s premiere defensive player. He is leading the team with 25 tackles and has also racked up three tackles for a loss and a sack. On Saturday, Brown played against some of his former teammates when the Wildcats squared off against the Hurricanes in Miami. Brown and KSU walked away with a satisfying 28-24 win.
Sidenotes: Fellow classmate and hometown
friend wide receiver, Chris Harper, who was rated as a 4-star prospect when he
signed with Oregon, is leading the team with 11 receptions. His brother and
former five-star running back prospect Bryce Brown, who originally signed with
Tennessee, is also playing in Manhattan this season. He has averaged 5.3 yards
per carry, but has only toted the rock in two of the team’s games and did not
get a carry against Miami.
RB

Scott was one of the most heavily recruited players in the country.

Recruiting Tale of the Tape
Class: 2008
School: St. Bonaventure H.S. (Cali.)
National Ranking: 4
State Ranking: 1
Height: 6’2
Weight: 215
Originally signed with Colorado
Everyone who watched Scott play in high school walked away
thinking he was destined to do great things in college, a no doubter. He signed
with Colorado and heading in to his freshman season many selected
him to be the ‘impact freshman’ of the Big 12 conference. It did not take Scott long to make an impact. He rushed for 54 yards and scored a touchdown in his
first college game, but one year later after only receiving one carry in the
team’s opening game Scott opted to transfer. He would wind up at South Florida,
where after four games he has helped the Bulls secure a 4-0 record and a Top 25
ranking. He is USF’s top rusher and has accounted for 353 rushing yards and
scored six touchdowns, surpassing the totals he put up in his entire first
season at CU.
Sidenotes: Scott was not the only five-star
prospect to sign with Colorado in ’08 as MLB Lynn Katoa also inked with the
Buffs. Katoa was booted from the team after being arrested and subsequently not
being able to keep up in the classroom. Since his departure reports show that he
has remained in constant legal trouble.
