St. Paul's and Mandeville put perfect matching 4-0 records on the line tonight in a battle of Class…
Bergeron visits Mississippi State
"I loved it," said Matt Bergeron of his trip to Starkville to watch Mississippi State battle Louisiana Tech. "It was a blast. I've been talking with Mississippi State for a long time. They want me to keep sending game film. They're unsure whether they'll take a quarterback this year, but I hope they do and I hope it's me." Bergeron has one early offer and is also getting interest from Arkansas State. "I have the offer from Coach (Hal) Mumme at McMurry," said Bergeron. "I'm probably going to take an unofficial visit to Arkansas State in the next couple of weeks." Mandeville is currently undefeated and the Skippers have a colossal matchup this week with district rival St. Paul's (4-0). "Everybody's happy," said Bergeron when asked about the excitement level around the Mandeville campus. "It's a big week and there will be a lot of people at this game. St. Paul's puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback and they're very fundamentally sound. We'll have to execute. "I've hit nine different wide receivers with passes and some of them have turned small plays into big plays. Our offensive line have been improving from week to week. They had adjustments to make after one of the starters missed time due to a concussion. We have young people who are playing well on this team." Last week, Bergeron connected on 17-of-28 attempts for 255 yards and three touchdowns as Mandeville knocked East Ascension from the ranks of the unbeaten. Bergeron tossed three touchdowns the previous week, as well. His favorite targets include WRs Xavier Marcus and Garrett Dinicola. RB Charles Jones provides balance with the ground game.
