In the era of spread football and teams throwing the football 50 times per game, this Thursday's FOX Sports Ohio televised matchup between Canton McKinley and GlenOak will bring back memories of old-school, defensive-minded football.
Both teams play a physical brand of football, and this game has turned into quite an intense rivalry over the past decade. Last season saw McKinley win a tight contest 8-6.
GlenOak comes into this game with a 5-0 record, and the number-one spot in the computer rankings in Division-I, Region-I. They are led by All-Ohio tailback Brionte Dunn, an Ohio State commit. Although Dunn was injured last week against Austintown Fitch, he stated he is 100% healthy this week and is ready to go.
McKinley counters with a strong defense, led by another All-Ohioan, Se'Von Pittman, a Michigan State commit. Pittman, 6-foot-4, 260-pounds, dominated last year's game from his defensive end spot, holding Dunn to one of his lowest rushing totals. The Bulldogs have been on a roll since their opening week loss to Cardinal Mooney, and currently sit at 4-1 and the number-five spot in the computer rankings.
This game will be televised by FOX Sports Ohio in the Cleveland market, beginning at 7 o'clock PM.
