1. PATTERSON (1) -- (3-0) -- Last week, the Lumberjacks defeated North Vermilion, 35-11. Three-star prospect Trevon Stewart rushed for 202 yards on nine carries. Stewart is committed to Houston, as is teammate Jaydrick Declouet (three-star WR). Patterson didn't play in week one due to Tropical Storm Lee. LB Lorenzo Phillips, rated as a four-star player, is committed to Florida. This week: at Berwick (0-4)
2. ST. CHARLES CATHOLIC (2) -- (4-0) -- Last week, the Comets defeated Miller-McCoy Academy, 55-2. St. Charles flexed its muscles on both sides of the football, scoring on all seven first-half possessions and picking off four passes, according to Jerry Juan of the (New Orleans) Times-Picayune. Senior Jeffrey Hall had three of the interceptions. RB Lazedrick Thompson, a senior Tulane commit, ran for 114 yards and four touchdowns. This week: 2A Jeanerette (2-2)
3. LORANGER (3) -- (4-0) -- Last week, the Wolves defeated 1A-ranked Kentwood, 34-14. Loranger has proven it can move the ball via ground or air and the Wolves rolled up approximately 300 yards rushing vs. Kentwood, according to lorangerhighschool.net. Sophomore Rashad Brumfield gained 104 yards on 16 carries. QB B.J. Rainey is having a tremendous season, and junior speedster Jeryl Brazil (three TDs, three interceptions on the year) is committed to LSU. Senior linebacker Cody Navarro intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. This week: at 2A St. Thomas Aquinas (1-3)
4. AMITE (5) -- (2-1) -- Last week, the Warriors defeated Madison Prep, 40-0. Amite's lopsided victory last Friday doesn't count as an official win, because Madison Prep (a Baton Rouge charter school) is a fledgling program that isn't a member of the LHSAA. Regardless, the Warriors were sharp on offense with five different players reaching the end zone. Albert Gardner, James Oden, Josh Gibson and Reginald Porter all scored. This week: 4A Franklinton (2-2)
5. LIVONIA (6) -- (4-0) -- Last week, the Wildcats defeated Baker, 43-8. RB Mark Lewis ran for two touchdown runs and QB Mason Torres tossed a TD pass to Brandon Armand, according to Tom Dodge of zacharytoday.com. Lewis is among the state's leading rushers with 636 yards and 13 TDs (on only 57 carries); he leads the state in scoring (80 points). This week: at Brusly (3-1)
6. RAYNE (7) -- (4-0) -- Last week, the Wolves defeated 2A Ville Platte, 28-12. Trent Duhon (150) and Jalen Williams (107) combined for 257 rushing yards and four TDs. Rayne faces Livonia next week. This week: at South Beauregard (3-1)
7. RICHWOOD (NR) -- (3-1) -- Last week, the Rams defeated then-7th ranked East Feliciana, 34-15. Antonio Wilson ran for 93 yards and a pair of scores as East Feliciana lost its first regular season game since 2009. Tre Hunter leads the secondary for Richwood, which is located just south of Monroe. The Rams have captured three straight wins after a one-point loss to Vicksburg (Ms.) in the opener. This week: 2A Mansfield (1-3)
8. JENNINGS (NR) -- (3-1) -- Last week, the Bulldogs defeated 4A DeRidder, 34-20. No details were available. TE Khristopher Watkins is an excellent college prospect who blocks and catches the football equally well. RB Tre Richardson accumulated 178 yards in a victory over 4A St. Louis Catholic. This week: at 2A Ferriday (2-2)
9. PORT ALLEN (10) -- (4-0) -- Last week, the Pelicans defeated McMain, 13-6. QB Darian Claiborne, a bruising runner who projects as a likely LB in college, rambled for 127 yards rushing. Ricky Merritt added a scoring jaunt, according to Rodney Mallett of the (Baton Rouge) Advocate. This week: at 1A White Castle (1-3)
10. CROWLEY (NR) -- (2-1) -- Last week, the Gents defeated Peabody Magnet, 34-6. LSU commit Davante' Bourque (pictured below, to the right) ran for 266 yards. "It went well," said Kirk Landry, Bourque's father. "He was putting his head down, running hard and getting the tough yards. The holes aren't necessarily there - that were there last year - and it's made Davante' into more of a complete back." This week: 4A Teurlings Catholic (2-2)
