Crete-Monee (Ill.) has an impressive junior receiver in Laquon Treadwell. He had a nice game Friday…
Long Shots: Crete-Monee at Rich Central
Crete-Monee showed the reason why they are 7-0 during the last few minutes of Friday's game – led mainly by Michigan commit Anthony Standifer, and emerging 2013 WR Laquon Treadwell. Crete-Monee would hold on to win a close game with Rich Central, 34-20 in a Southland Athletic Conference victory. Game Notes Olympia Fields, Ill., style: • Starting with Michigan commit Anthony Standifer, it's no wonder that Standifer has so many interceptions – he seems to keep his eyes on the ball like a WR, and moves very well to it. • I wrote down, "Read the QBs eyes very well, and played more like a WR." • In fact, most of the night the other team just avoided throwing the ball Standifer's way – and he was covering perhaps their best player Shawn Mitchell. • After the game, Standifer said he tried to keep his man in front of him the whole game, and he pretty much did that with ease the entire game. • The other player who highlighted the night for me was Laquon Treadwell – and I'm telling you, I want this kid on my hypothetical team. • Treadwell was aggressive with a capitol A, and played nearly every down – as a DE/OLB and a WR – and pretty much manhandled kids. • Treadwell told me after the game that the best part of playing defense was "not getting in trouble" for hitting people. • Treadwell also had a great eye for the ball, and was pretty much always open. He was the epitome of a a playmaker.
