Boyster Sticking With The Cats
Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco's offensive tackle Beau Boyster has been committed to the Arizona Wildcats since early May. "The only way I would ever decommit is if the coaching staff disassembled," Boyster said several weeks ago following a successful visit to Tucson. "Besides that, I am an Arizona Wildcat." Well, Boyster's fear has become reality, as Arizona head coach Mike Stoops has in fact coached his final game for the Wildcats. "I'm a little upset," Boyster told Scout.com after receiving the news. "I got to know the guy pretty well, he supports the family, and it's just bad news." Does the announcement change the status of Boyster's commitment to UA? "I have no comment on that," Boyster says initially. "I'm going to talk to my family tonight." "But the funny thing is I just talked to Coach Salave'a, my recruiting coordinator from my school today. You know I didn't make my decision based off the coaching staff, thankfully. So either way, I want to be at Arizona." "It really doesn't affect my commitment too much; I'm pretty solid still." As unpleasant as he feels about the coaching change, Boyster claims that his decision was based on several other factors. "I'm a Southern California kid and I didn't want to stay in Southern California," he explains. "I didn't want to go to USC or UCLA. I wanted to go somewhere where I would have to man up and not drive home when I was mad about something." "I had an offer from Arizona State, and it was a nice school but it really didn't fit me. Arizona just molded me into the kind of person I am. They really have a Southern California attitude out there." "It feels almost like I'm home."
