Kansas QB added to Army AA roster

Posted Oct 11, 2011

McPherson (KS) High School quarterback Tyler Matthews is one of the top signal-callers in the Midlands region, a TCU commit and now officially a participant in the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

Matthews received an invite in May, following strong performance at the Ohio Elite 11 event. His name popped up on the West roster Tuesday evening.

Through six games in 2011, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback has thrown for 1,594 yards, 13 touchdowns and four interceptions, completing 61.6-percent of his passes. The Bullpups currently own a 5-1 record.

Matthews is committed to TCU. The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Game is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 7 at noon, to take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio. It will be televised on NBC.
